Yes, the furniture is supposed to be in the road! During the pedestrian-only days in the popular Ginza shopping district, chairs and tables are put out in the middle of the road to rest weary travellers and shoppers in the summer heat. A group of friends take a little time-out on their travels and rest up for a while.

A photo I took of a fellow photographer standing on an ornate balcony in the Temple of Heaven during the Jan 15th 2010 solar eclipse – that incidentally caught me completely by surprise (I did not know of it before the time). We spent the rest of the early evening taking photographs of the eclipse instead of the monuments, naturally!

I was walking in the park of the Temple of Heaven, stepping in the snow between the trees. Directly under the trees was no snow as the leaves had caught it all, and as I stepped next to this leaf I looked down, liked the imagery, and took this candid shot. The idea was almost accidental, but I enjoy the thoughts it provokes.

Beijing, China – Badaling Section, Great Wall of China

The reason this photo has no other people in it is because it was taken at the very end of the north section of the Badaling Great Wall. Including wind chill it was approximately -25C out, which meant some great photos could be taken if I could out-walk the tourists, which took a while but was worth it.

The point at the top is the highest point of this particular section of the Great Wall, but probably just under half of the way back to the mid-point/entrance to the south section.
